Are you looking forward to summer? Soon flowers will be in full bloom! Barn Quilt Tours is excited to partner with “At The Farm” to bring you a Floral Garden Tour, filled with exploring beautiful gardens.
Carver County is home to a number of beautiful and exquisite gardens that will appeal to gardeners, art enthusiasts, serious horticulturalists, history buffs and more. Anyone who can appreciate the beauty of nature will enjoy exploring these gardens.
Our tour will cover four (4) floral gardens. Included are Karen & Emery Koenig on Reitz Lake, Waconia. This couple and their European-style garden paradise were recently featured in the Star Tribune newspaper in January, 2018. See it firsthand!
Another stop includes the Waconia home of Ann & Brian Klingelhutz, garden enthusiasts! Ann’s past retail garden center experience shines through in her well tended and numerous gardens. We’ll also visit the home of Duane Otto, well known Master Gardener, dubbed the “Garden Guy”, who makes his career at the MN Landscape Arboretum. His personal farm in Hamburg, MN is an oasis of unique gardens and artistic delights. Last but not least, are the enchanting floral gardens of Donna Frantz, at her farm, appropriately named, “At The Farm”.
Floral Garden Tour guests will also enjoy an unique luncheon experience in the dining area of the restored hayloft at “At The Farm”. Donna Frantz, farmer, author and garden expert will share her beautiful organic farm setting, one-of-kind floral gardens, historic barn and antique collections.
Of course no tour is quite complete without seeing a barn quilt or two along the way. Barn Quilts are quilt patterns, drawn to scale and painted on wooden panels that are hung on exterior walls of historic barns. These beautiful pieces of artwork highlight the art of quilting while showcasing Carver County’s historic agricultural icons. Learn the family stories tied to their choice of quilt pattern.
